Larger series: This is part of a larger series of explorations delving into the world of psychology and its applications to everyday life.
Topic for this meeting: There are certain branches within psychology that are like doors, when unlocked and opened, offer an entranceway into the whole world of human psychology. Personality psychology is one such door. More importantly, it comes with priceless knowledge for individuals living a human life. To function optimally as humans, we need to have an understanding of ourselves and others. This is one of the areas of the scope of all human knowledge that provides insights on this, and in ways unparalleled by many other fields of study. Having this knowledge, and ways of working with it, equips one with this veritable superpower in living.
Agenda for meeting: We begin our meetings with a warm-up exploration in small groups of 2-3, then move into a brief talk. After the talk, we again gather in small groups of 2-3 to an applied exercise or group exploration, then come back together to share, and have time at end for free form connecting.
Who is it for: This event is free and open to all interested in the topic. Part of the vision of this series of events is the building of a community centered around deeper and more meaningful ways of connecting.
Key Takeaways:
Learning: Enter into the fascinating world of personality psychology. Topics frequently explored in personality psychology include the study of the very psychological organization of experience itself, motivation (what drives humans to do what they do), traits (why and how are individuals predisposed or express differently in the world), and development (the various lines and stages of human psychological development).
Process: Explore how personality psychology provides deep insight into the nature of inner disharmony or unease (why, where, & how people suffer), insights for psychotherapy (pathways to healing), relationships (places where a couple can get stifled and what could be done by this), and self-insight and self-mastery (understanding one’s own mind and psychology so well that one may actually have agency into the quality and nature of their very experience and trajectory of their lives).
Applied Practice: Once having the ability to map one’s inner territory their understanding can provide a powerful pathway to actually working with one’s psychology, in a way as to bring about healing, growth, insight, and transformation.
